HISTORY OF THE FREZZI FAMILY

In 1906, Serafín Frezzi and his wife, Severina Romagnoli, emigrated from Italy to Argentina to fulfill their longtime dream of settling in the new world.
In 1928 they acquired their first country estate near the town of Santa Eufemia (located in the Province of Córdoba, Argentina), naming it “La Severina”, where they initiated -under the name of “Serafin Frezzi y Cia”- what today is a longtime family tradition: high standard agricultural production.
Forty years later, in 1968, along two of their sons (Héctor and Dino) and their respective children, they established a new company, under the name of FREZZI S.A., thus grouping three family generations in the new project.
Some years later, in 1974, they settle near the town of Chilecito (Province of La Rioja), where with great expectations, they plant their first vineyard, designating Héctor Oscar Frezzi (son of Héctor Frezzi) head of the project.
Three years later, they sun dry the first grapes, obtaining the raisins that up to this day are commercialized under the highly recognized brand “PASAFRE”.
In 1990, in recognition of the great work done in their vineyards in matters of vegetation cover and soil drainage, the INTA (National Institute of Agricultural Technology) awarded the company the “Improvement of Agricultural Production” prize.
At that point, the company decided to initiate the process toward obtaining the Organic farming certification. The process was successfully concluded in 1993, when the certification was finally approved by ARGENCERT.
Nowadays, FREZZI S.A. is managed by the third and fourth generation of the FREZZI family, and still specializes in grape production for winemaking and raisins, as well as the production of olives, all under the ARGENCERT/ECOCERT International Organic certification standards.

CERTIFIED ORGANIC VINEYARDS SINCE 1993

Our vineyards are located at the foothills of the Andes Range, in the “Antinaco-Los Colorados” Valley, bordered by the Velasco mountain range to the east and by the Famatina mountain range to the west, which provides the fields with a natural barrier against plague, and at the same time generates an ideal microclimate for Organic farming.
The responsible and eco friendly usage of the soil and water resources, added to our indeclinable commitment to protect the biodiversity of the region and to abide by the most strict organic farming regulations, assures us to always obtain high quality grapes, which is the starting point to producing top of the line organic raisins.
Our long time experience and knowledge, obtained by the hard and responsible work of four generations of farmers, allow us to always produce high quality sun dried organic grapes, which are later marketed by L.I.R.A. S.A.
